History
King’s Kupboard is what happens when a group of people look around and say, “It’s not okay that people are going hungry.” This same group of people then reads the Bible and sees Jesus’ clear vision for a world where all are fed. So, this same group of people start collecting food in a shopping cart and pass it out as people come into their building. Add the Holy Spirit to this group of people and it becomes King’s Kupboard food pantry.
Starting in the early 2000’s when auto manufacturing caused layoffs in our community, our members saw a gap between available benefits, and those in need. They started collecting food and distributing it to those in need. The only requirement was that they be a resident of Hillsdale County. Twenty-years later King’s Kupboard has become the largest food pantry in Hillsdale County and is open more days than any other.
